Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is California's program to make sure that all schools and districts are complying with the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. Federal results are reported in August and focus on how well schools are meeting common standards of academic performance. The ultimate objective for schools under NCLB is for 100 percent of students to achieve prociency in English-language arts and mathematics by 2013–14.
